Germany
Germany is a land rich in Christian history, where the Reformation once reshaped the world and church steeples still dominate many skylines. Yet beneath its Christian heritage lies one of Europe's most spiritually secular nations.
Much of the eastern part of Germany is a Gospel desert—historically wounded, deeply secular, and largely untouched by vibrant faith communities. Berlin, Germany's capital city, is a place where the ultra-religious and the ultra-rebellious live side by side, where the secular and the sacred collide, and where Muslims and post-Christian Europeans search for meaning in a rapidly changing world.
Fewer than 2% of Germans have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, and millions have little or no meaningful connection to a gospel-preaching church. In many communities, faith is viewed as a relic of the past rather than a living reality, while skepticism, individualism, and secularism have become the dominant worldview.
Yet God is at work. New churches are being planted, lives are being transformed, and believers are faithfully bringing the hope of Christ to a spiritually hungry nation.
Churches are being planted and university ministry is growing, yet Germany remains one of Europe's greatest mission fields—and one of its greatest opportunities for Gospel Access.
